What is Wilderness Medicine?

Wilderness Medicine differs significantly from standard first aid courses and other programs that are oriented toward the urban environment. Our wilderness courses teach what to do in a medical emergency when help is miles away and calling 911 isn’t an option.

Mountain Med Consulting uses Wilderness Medical Associates (WMA) International curriculum. For over 40 years, WMA has been teaching practical medicine to people who work in remote and difficult environments. The core curriculum is designed to provide the skills and insight needed to improvise, adapt, and exercise reasonable judgment at any level of medical training.

We prepare students for emergency situations that involve prolonged patient care, austere environments and improvised equipment. Benefiting from seasoned, adept instructors who boast years of expertise in their respective domains. Their passion lies in assisting students in gaining confidence and crafting remarkable outdoor experiences. Whether engaging in wilderness first responder training, or a custom skills course students acquire extensive hands-on experience with enduring outcomes.
